How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose. For high blood pressure, adults usually start with 8 mg once a day, and children with 4 mg once a day. For heart failure, adults usually start with 4 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 32 mg. For children, it's 8 mg for those under 50 kg and 16 mg for those 50 kg or more.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or feeling light-headed
  • Headache
  • Respiratory infection (cold or flu-like symptoms)
  • Low blood pressure, which might make you feel weak or dizzy
  • High potassium levels in the blood, possibly causing tiredness or irregular heartbeat
  • Changes in how your kidneys work
RARE
  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, which can make it hard to breathe or swallow (a serious allergic reaction)
  • Low number of white or red blood cells, causing tiredness, infections, or fever
  • Skin rash or hives (itchy bumps on the skin)
  • Itching
  • Back, joint, or muscle pain
  • Liver problems, including hepatitis (inflammation of the liver), which can cause tiredness, yellow skin or eyes, or flu-like symptoms
  • Swelling in your gut (intestinal angioedema), causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Low sodium levels in the blood, causing weakness, tiredness, or muscle cramps
  • Diarrhea

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant, as it can seriously harm your baby. Avoid it during early pregnancy too.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart, liver, or kidney problems, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Do not stop taking Candesartan Krka without talking to your doctor first, as your blood pressure may rise.
  • If you feel dizzy or tired, do not drive or use any tools or machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
