How to Use

Dosage

For high blood pressure, the usual starting dose is 8 mg once a day. For heart failure, the usual starting dose is 4 mg once a day. For children aged 6-18 with high blood pressure, the usual starting dose is 4 mg once a day. Your doctor may adjust your dose.

Method

Take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you. You can take it with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is usually 32 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and get medical help right away if you have an allergic reaction: trouble breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or severe itchy skin with raised bumps.
  • If you feel tired, get infections often, or have a fever, tell your doctor. Candesartan Actavis can lower your white blood cell count, making you more prone to infections.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, especially after the third month, as it can harm your baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • If you are having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking Candesartan Actavis, as it can cause a big drop in blood pressure with some anesthetics.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
