How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual starting dose is 8 mg once a day, but your doctor may adjust it based on your condition.

Method

Take the tablet with water, with or without food. You can divide the tablet into two equal halves if needed.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 32 mg once a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or feeling light-headed
  • Headache
  • Respiratory infections
  • Low blood pressure, which can make you feel dizzy or light-headed
  • High potassium levels in the blood (especially with kidney disease or heart failure), which can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeats, or tingling sensations
  • Effects on kidney function, especially if you have existing kidney disease or heart failure
RARE
  • Swelling in the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells, which can lead to tiredness, infection, or fever
  • Rashes, raised rashes (hives)
  • Itching
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain
  • Changes in liver function, including hepatitis, which can cause tiredness, yellowing of skin and eyes, or flu-like symptoms
  • Cough
  • Nausea
  • Low sodium levels in the blood, which can cause weakness, lack of energy, or muscle cramps
  • Intestinal angioedema: swelling in the intestines with symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Diarrhea

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant (it's also best to avoid this medicine in early pregnancy).
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease or problems with bile drainage from the gallbladder.
  • Do not give to a child under 1 year of age.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a medicine called aliskiren.

  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you experience difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or severe itching with raised rashes.
