How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 4 mg or 8 mg once daily. Your doctor may increase this up to 32 mg daily, depending on your condition.

Method

Take the tablet with water, with or without food. You can split the tablet if needed. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

Do not exceed 32 mg per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or feeling faint
  • Headache
  • Respiratory infections
  • Low blood pressure, which can cause dizziness or faintness
  • Increased potassium in your blood, which can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeats, or tingling. Especially if you have kidney problems or heart failure.
  • Changes in kidney function, including kidney failure in very rare cases, especially if you already have kidney problems or heart failure.
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat (allergic reaction)
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells, which may cause tiredness, infections, or fever
  • Skin rashes, hives (raised rash), or itching
  • Back, joint, or muscle pain
  • Changes in liver function, including hepatitis (liver inflammation), which may cause tiredness, yellow skin/eyes, or flu-like symptoms
  • Cough
  • Nausea
  • Decreased sodium in your blood, which can cause weakness, lack of energy, or muscle cramps
  • Intestinal angioedema (swelling of the intestines) with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Diarrhea

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Candesarstad if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant for more than 3 months, or planning pregnancy. It can harm your baby.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 1 year old.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver disease, bile duct problems, or kidney issues, or are on dialysis.
  • Inform your doctor if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren.

  • Tell your doctor if you have had recent vomiting, severe diarrhea, or are dehydrated, or have low blood pressure.
  • If you are having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking Candesarstad as it may cause a drop in blood pressure.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor first, as your blood pressure may rise.
  • This medicine can make you feel tired or dizzy. Do not drive or use machines if you experience these effects.
