How to Use

Dosage

Usually 4 mg or 8 mg once a day, as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the right dose for your condition.

Method

Take the tablet with water, with or without food, at the same time each day. You can split the tablet in half if needed.

Important

Do not take more than 32 mg per day for adults. For children, the maximum dose depends on their weight and condition.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling dizzy or lightheaded.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infection (like a common cold).
  • Low blood pressure, which can make you feel weak and dizzy.
  • High potassium levels in your blood, especially if you have kidney or heart problems. This can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling.
  • Changes in how your kidneys work, especially if you already have kidney or heart problems.
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (signs of a severe allergic reaction).
  • A decrease in red or white blood cells, which can make you feel tired or lead to infections and fever.
  • Skin rash or hives (itchy, raised bumps).
  • Itching.
  • Back, joint, or muscle pain.
  • Changes in liver function, including liver inflammation (hepatitis), which can cause tiredness, yellow skin/eyes, and flu-like symptoms.
  • Nausea.
  • Low sodium levels in your blood, which, if severe, can cause weakness, lack of energy, or muscle cramps.
  • Cough.
  • Swelling in the intestines (angioedema) with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Kidney failure (very rarely).
  • Diarrhea (also can be part of intestinal swelling).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Candemox if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant. It is also best to avoid Candemox during early pregnancy, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease or problems with bile flow from your gallbladder.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.
  • Do not give Candemox to children younger than 1 year old, as it can harm their developing kidneys.

  • Tell your doctor or dentist if you are taking Candemox before any surgery, as it can cause a large drop in blood pressure with some anesthetics.
  • Do not stop taking Candemox without talking to your doctor first, as your blood pressure may rise again.
  • Candemox can make you feel tired or dizzy. If this happens, do not drive or use tools or machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
