How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults is 8 mg once a day. Your doctor might increase it to 16 mg or even 32 mg daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is usually 32 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling dizzy or light-headed.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infection.
  • Low blood pressure, which can make you feel weak or dizzy.
  • Higher potassium levels in your blood (may cause tiredness, weakness, or irregular heartbeats).
  • Changes in how your kidneys work (especially if you have kidney or heart failure).
RARE
  • Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells (may cause tiredness, infections, or fever).
  • Skin rash or hives (itchy bumps).
  • Itching.
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain.
  • Changes in liver function, including hepatitis (may cause tiredness and yellowing of the skin or eyes).
  • Nausea (feeling sick to your stomach).
  • Lower sodium levels in your blood (may cause weakness, tiredness, or muscle cramps).
  • Cough.
  • Swelling in the intestines (symptoms may include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredient in Candemox.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are more than 3 months pregnant.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems or a blockage in your bile ducts.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.
  • Candemox should not be given to children under 1 year old.

  • Tell your doctor if you have heart, liver, or kidney problems, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Tell your doctor if you have recently had severe vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure.
  • Always tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking Candemox before any surgery.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
