How to Use

Dosage

One Candecam tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food, at the same time each day. Do not take with grapefruit juice.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • feeling dizzy or lightheaded (Candesartan-related)
  • headache (Candesartan-related)
  • respiratory infection (Candesartan-related)
  • low blood pressure, which can make you feel weak or dizzy (Candesartan-related)
  • increased potassium in the blood (especially with kidney disease or heart failure), which can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling (Candesartan-related)
  • changes in kidney function (especially with kidney disease or heart failure) (Candesartan-related)
  • swelling (fluid retention) (Amlodipine-related)
  • headache, dizziness, sleepiness (especially at the start of treatment) (Amlodipine-related)
  • palpitations, flushing (Amlodipine-related)
  • stomach pain, nausea (Amlodipine-related)
  • changes in bowel habits, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion (Amlodipine-related)

RARE
  • swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat (Candesartan-related)
  • decrease in red or white blood cells, which can cause tiredness, infections, or fever (Candesartan-related)
  • rash or bumpy rash (hives) (Candesartan-related)
  • itching (Candesartan-related)
  • back pain, joint pain, and muscle pain (Candesartan-related)
  • swelling in the intestines (intestinal angioedema) with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea (Candesartan-related)
  • changes in liver function, including hepatitis, causing tiredness, yellow skin/eyes, and flu-like symptoms (Candesartan-related)
  • cough (Candesartan-related)
  • nausea (Candesartan-related)
  • decreased sodium in the blood, which can cause weakness, lack of energy, or muscle cramps (Candesartan-related)
  • diarrhea (Candesartan-related)
  • mood changes, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness (Amlodipine-related)
  • trembling, taste changes, fainting, numbness or tingling in limbs, loss of pain sensation (Amlodipine-related)
  • ringing in the ears (Amlodipine-related)
  • low blood pressure (Amlodipine-related)
  • sneezing/runny nose due to nasal inflammation (rhinitis) (Amlodipine-related)
  • cough (Amlodipine-related)

  • hair loss, increased sweating, itchy skin, red skin patches, skin discoloration (Amlodipine-related)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil, amlodipine, other similar blood pressure medicines (calcium channel blockers), or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant; it should also be avoided in early pregnancy as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease or blockage in your bile ducts.
  • This medicine is not for children under 1 year old.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.

  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure.
  • Do not use if you have a narrowing of the heart's main artery (aortic stenosis) or cardiogenic shock (when your heart cannot pump enough blood).
  • Do not use if you have heart failure that developed after a heart attack.
  • Inform your doctor or dentist if you are having surgery, as Candecam can lower blood pressure when combined with anaesthetics.
