How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your specific dose.

Method

This medicine is given as an infusion in a hospital, usually through a blood purification machine.

Important

The maximum recommended dose is 3 liters per day.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Low body temperature
  • Too much or too little fluid in the body
  • High or low blood calcium levels
  • Blood is too acidic or too basic
  • Electrolyte imbalances (e.g. low blood potassium or phosphate)
  • Low blood pressure
RARE
  • Irritation or damage at the injection site (such as warmth, skin damage, or hardening of the skin) if the medicine leaks into surrounding tissues.
  • High blood calcium levels caused by receiving too much of this medicine.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Calrecia if your blood calcium levels are too high.
  • Do not use Calrecia if your blood chloride levels are too high.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking heart medicines (like digitalis).
  • Tell your doctor if you have other conditions affecting calcium, such as kidney stones, too much calcium in your urine, or a vitamin D overdose.
