How to Use
Dosage
Adults usually start with 10 ml. For children, the doctor will decide the dose based on their blood calcium levels and symptoms.
Method
This medicine is given slowly as an injection into a vein or a large muscle. For children, it's only given into a vein, slowly, usually after being diluted. Your heart function will be carefully monitored during the injection.

Possible Side Effects
RARE
- •Slow or irregular heartbeat
- •Low blood pressure
- •Circulatory collapse (potentially fatal)
- •Severe reactions in newborns, including calcium-ceftriaxone deposits in lungs and kidneys
- •Widening of blood vessels
- •Hot flashes, especially if injection is too fast
- •Nausea or vomiting
- •Feeling of warmth
- •Sweating
- •Pain and redness at the injection site (if given into a muscle)
- •Inflammation, hardening, and tissue damage (necrosis) at the injection site (if injection not deep enough)
- •Calcium buildup in soft tissues, skin peeling, skin damage, redness, warmth, or pain around the injection site (if solution leaks outside the vein)
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to calcium gluconate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Do not use if you have too much calcium in your blood.
- Do not use if you have too much calcium in your urine.
- Tell your doctor if you are taking heart medicines (like digitalis) as calcium can increase their effects and lead to poisoning.
- Calciumgluconate B. Braun should not be given at the same time as the antibiotic ceftriaxone to babies younger than 28 days old.

- Do not use this medicine if the ampoule is damaged, the solution is discolored or cloudy, or contains visible particles.
