How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will calculate your dose based on your body surface area to determine how much medicine you need.

Method

The medicine is given by a drip into a vein (intravenously) in a hospital over about one hour.

Important

You will usually receive one infusion every three weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Lower number of red blood cells (anemia) or white blood cells (which fight infections).
  • Lower number of platelets (which can increase bleeding risk).
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Stomach problems, including feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Back pain.
  • Blood in your urine.
  • Feeling tired, weak, or lacking energy.
RARE
  • Changes in taste.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Cough.
  • Pain in the stomach area.
  • Temporary hair loss (hair usually grows back normally after treatment).
  • Joint pain.
  • Urinary tract infection.
  • Low white blood cells with fever and infection.
  • Numbness, tingling, burning, or reduced sensation in hands and feet.
  • Nail problems (changes in nail color, nails may fall off).
  • Dizziness.
  • Headache.
  • Increased or decreased blood pressure.
  • Stomach discomfort, heartburn, or burping.
  • Abdominal pain.
  • Hemorrhoids.
  • Muscle twitching.
  • Painful or frequent urination.
  • Urinary incontinence (leaking urine).
  • Kidney disease or problems.
  • Sores in the mouth or on the lips.
  • Infections or increased risk of infection.
  • High blood sugar.
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia).
  • Confusion.
  • Restlessness or anxiety.
  • Abnormal sensations, numbness, or pain in hands and feet.
  • Balance problems.
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat.
  • Blood clot in a leg or lung.
  • Feeling of flushing (redness of skin).
  • Pain in the mouth or throat.
  • Bleeding from the rectum.
  • Muscle problems, aches, weakness, or pain.
  • Swelling in your legs or feet.
  • Chills.
RARE
  • Low potassium in the blood.
  • Ringing in the ears.
  • Feeling hot or red skin.
  • Bladder inflammation that can occur if the bladder has been exposed to radiation therapy before.

Important Warnings

  • Before each treatment, blood tests will be done to check your blood cells, and liver and kidney function to ensure it's safe to receive Cabazitaxel Viatris.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to cabazitaxel, other taxanes, polysorbate 80, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use if your white blood cell count is too low (neutrophils are 1500/mm³ or less).
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not use if you have recently received or are about to receive a yellow fever vaccine.

  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have severe or long-lasting diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting, as this can lead to serious dehydration.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you feel numbness, tingling, burning, or reduced sensation in your hands or feet.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have severe stomach pain, bleeding from the bowel, or changes in your stool color, as this could mean a serious bowel issue.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if your skin or eyes turn yellow, your urine gets dark, or you have severe nausea or vomiting, as these can be signs of liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you notice a significant increase or decrease in the amount of urine you pass daily.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have blood in your urine.
