How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose based on your body size.

Method

This medicine is given as a drip into a vein in your arm in a hospital, usually for about one hour.

Important

You will usually receive one infusion every three weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fever (high temperature)
  • Severe dehydration (lack of body fluids)
  • Severe or long-lasting stomach pain (could be a sign of a hole in the stomach or intestines)
  • Low red or white blood cell count (anemia or increased infection risk)
  • Low platelet count (increased bleeding risk)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Stomach problems like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Back pain
  • Blood in urine
  • Tiredness, weakness, and low energy
  • Changes in taste
  • Shortness of breath
  • Cough
  • Abdominal pain
  • Temporary hair loss (hair usually grows back)
  • Joint pain
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Low white blood cell count with fever and infection
  • Numbness, tingling, burning, or less sensation in hands or feet
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Stomach discomfort, heartburn, or burping
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Muscle spasms
  • Painful or frequent urination
  • Urinary incontinence (difficulty holding urine)
  • Kidney disease or problems
  • Mouth or lip sores
  • Infections or increased risk of infection
  • High blood sugar
  • Insomnia (difficulty sleeping)
  • Confusion
  • Anxiety
  • Abnormal sensations, numbness, or pain in hands and feet (neuralgia)
  • Balance problems
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Blood clot in a leg or lung
  • Skin flushing
  • Mouth or throat pain
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Muscle problems, aches, weakness, or pain
  • Swelling of feet or legs
  • Chills
  • Nail disorder (changes in nail color; nails may fall off)
RARE
  • Low blood potassium
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Feeling of warmth in the skin
  • Skin redness
  • Bladder inflammation (cystitis due to radiation exposure)
  • Interstitial lung disease (lung inflammation causing cough and breathing difficulties)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to cabazitaxel, other 'taxane' medicines, polysorbate 80, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if your white blood cell count is too low (less than 1500 per mm³).
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not use if you have recently had or will soon have a yellow fever vaccine.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have a fever, as it might be a sign of a serious infection.

  • Tell your doctor right away if you have had allergies before, as serious allergic reactions can happen during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have bad or long-lasting diarrhea, feel sick (nausea), or vomit a lot, as this can cause severe dehydration.
  • Tell your doctor right away if your hands or feet feel numb, tingly, burning, or less sensitive.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have bleeding in your gut, your stool changes color, or you have stomach pain.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor right away if your skin or eyes turn yellow, your urine is dark, or you have severe nausea or vomiting, as these can be signs of liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor right away if your daily urine amount changes a lot (increases or decreases).
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have blood in your urine.
