How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will calculate your dose based on your body surface area.

Method

It is given as an infusion into a vein in a hospital, usually over about one hour.

Important

You will normally receive one infusion every three weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low red blood cells (anemia) or low white blood cells.
  • Low platelets (which increases risk of bleeding).
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Stomach problems like feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Back pain.
  • Blood in urine.
  • Tiredness, weakness, and lack of energy.
  • Changes in taste.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Cough.
  • Abdominal pain.
  • Temporary hair loss (hair usually grows back normally).
  • Joint pain.
  • Urinary tract infection.
  • Low white blood cells with fever and infection.
  • Numbness, tingling, burning, or reduced sensation in hands or feet.
  • Dizziness.
  • Headache.
  • High or low blood pressure.
  • Stomach discomfort, heartburn, or burping.
  • Stomach pain.
  • Hemorrhoids.
  • Muscle twitching.
  • Painful or urgent urination.
  • Urine leakage.
  • Kidney disease or problems.
  • Sores in mouth or on lips.
  • Infections or risk of infection.
  • High blood sugar.
  • Insomnia.
  • Confusion.
  • Restlessness.
  • Abnormal sensations, numbness, or pain in hands and feet.
  • Balance problems.
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat.
  • Blood clot in leg or lung.
  • Feeling of flushed skin.
  • Pain in mouth or throat.
  • Rectal bleeding.
  • Muscle problems, aches, weakness, or pain.
  • Swelling of feet or legs.
  • Chills.
  • Nail disorder (changes in nail color; nails may fall off).
RARE
  • Low potassium in blood.
  • Ringing in ears.
  • Hot flashes.
  • Redness of skin.
  • Bladder inflammation (cystitis) that can appear after previous radiation therapy.
  • Lung inflammation (pneumonitis) causing cough and breathing difficulties.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to cabazitaxel, other taxanes, polysorbate 80, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if your white blood cell count is too low (neutrophil count is 1,500/mm³ or less).
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not use if you have recently received or are about to receive a yellow fever vaccine.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you get a fever, as your white blood cells might be low, leading to serious infections.

  • Tell your doctor if you have had allergies before or if you experience severe allergic reactions during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe or long-lasting diarrhea, feel very sick (nausea), or vomit, as this can lead to severe dehydration.
  • Tell your doctor if you feel numbness, tingling, burning, or less sensation in your hands or feet.
  • Tell your doctor if you have bleeding in your intestines, a change in stool color, or stomach pain, especially if severe.
  • Tell your doctor if your skin or eyes turn yellow, your urine becomes dark, or you have severe nausea or vomiting, as these can be signs of liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you notice a big increase or decrease in how much you urinate daily, or if you have blood in your urine.
