How to Use

Dosage

Treatment usually starts with 0.5-1 mg per day.

Method

Take the tablet with fluid during a meal.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 3 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea
  • Swelling in hands and feet
  • Headache
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness or feeling faint
  • Involuntary movements (dyskinesia)
  • Confusion
  • Sleep problems
  • Constipation
  • Vomiting
  • Indigestion or stomach upset
  • Stomach inflammation (gastritis)
  • Low blood pressure, especially when standing up
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness
  • Increased sex drive
  • Changes in blood test values, such as low hemoglobin
  • Abnormal liver function test results
  • Chest pain (angina)
  • Hallucinations
  • Serious heart problems such as heart valve problems, inflammation around the heart, or fluid accumulation around the heart. Early symptoms may include difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chest or back pain, and leg swelling.
RARE
  • Swelling, redness, or pain in fingertips or toes
  • Fluid in lungs or lung tissue scarring
  • Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity reaction)
  • Rash
  • Muscle overactivity
  • Delusions or psychotic disorders
  • Fatigue
  • Fibrosis (scar tissue formation)
  • Respiratory disease, respiratory failure, or pleurisy (inflammation of the lung sac)
  • Sudden onset of sleep
  • Tremor
  • Vision problems
  • Constriction of blood vessels in fingers and toes
  • Hair loss
  • Leg cramps
  • Changes in blood test values, such as increased creatine phosphokinase

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Cabaser if you are allergic to cabergoline or similar medicines (ergot alkaloids, dopamine agonists) or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take Cabaser if you have or have had scarring of heart tissue (fibrosis).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe liver problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart or blood vessel disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have stomach or intestinal ulcers or bleeding in your digestive tract.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have a history of severe mental health problems, especially psychosis.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a respiratory disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have low blood pressure or are taking blood pressure medication.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have Raynaud's syndrome (white fingers).
  • If you are on long-term Cabaser treatment, your doctor will regularly check your heart, lungs, and kidneys, including a heart ultrasound. Treatment will be stopped if tissue reactions occur.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your family notice you developing unusual urges or behaviors, such as gambling addiction, compulsive eating, excessive spending, or an increased sex drive. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or stop the medication.
