Burana oral suspension is used to relieve various types of pain, such as muscle aches, headaches, and toothaches, and to reduce fever in children and adults.

How to Use

Dosage

The dosage depends on body weight, usually 20-30 mg per kg per day, divided into several doses with at least 4 hours between them. This medicine is not for children weighing less than 5 kg.

Method

Shake the bottle well before measuring the dose with the provided spoon and take the medicine by mouth.

Important

Do not exceed the recommended dose given in the leaflet or by your doctor. For children over 12 years, the maximum daily dose is 30 ml (1200 mg).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach irritation, which might cause discomfort.
RARE
  • Headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping, agitation, irritability, or tiredness.
  • Vision problems.
  • Gas, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Kidney problems, including reduced urine output and protein in urine.
  • Allergic reactions like rash, asthma attacks, swollen tongue, or shortness of breath.
  • Liver problems.
  • Worsening of gut conditions like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
  • Depression or other mental changes.
  • Hair loss.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Skin sensitivity to light.
  • Severe skin reactions, such as red, blistered, or peeling skin; sores in the mouth, throat, nose, eyes, or genitals; or a widespread rash with fever and swollen glands.
  • Chest pain (could be a sign of a serious allergic reaction).
  • Unexplained stomach pain, indigestion, heartburn, nausea, or vomiting.
  • Yellow skin or eyes.
  • Severe sore throat with high fever, or unexplained bleeding, bruising, and fatigue.
  • Blood in stools, black or tarry stools, or vomiting blood or coffee-ground-like material.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to ibuprofen or any other ingredients, or if you have had an allergic reaction (like asthma, rash, or swelling) after taking aspirin or other pain relievers.
  • Do not use if you have a history of stomach ulcers, bleeding, or perforations in the gut related to previous use of anti-inflammatory pain relievers.
  • Do not take other anti-inflammatory pain relievers (NSAIDs) at the same time.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney, heart, or liver problems, or a blood disorder.
  • Do not use if you are severely dehydrated, as this can harm your kidneys.

  • Do not use during the last three months of pregnancy or if you are planning to become pregnant.
  • Contact a doctor if your or your child's condition does not improve after 1 day (for 3-6 month olds) or 3 days (for children over 6 months), or if symptoms worsen.
  • Stop use and seek immediate medical attention if you experience a severe skin reaction (e.g., rash, blisters, peeling skin) or a severe allergic reaction (e.g., difficulty breathing, facial swelling, chest pain).
  • Burana can hide signs of infection. If you have an infection and symptoms continue or get worse, contact a doctor immediately.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
