How to Use

Dosage

Dosage depends on age and weight, typically given every 6-8 hours. For 3-12 months (over 5 kg), 2.5 ml (50 mg) three times in 24 hours. For 1-3 years (10-15 kg), 5 ml (100 mg) three times in 24 hours. For 4-6 years (15-20 kg), 7.5 ml (150 mg) three times in 24 hours. For 7-9 years (20-30 kg), 10 ml (200 mg) three times in 24 hours. For 10-12 years (30-40 kg), 15 ml (300 mg) three times in 24 hours.

Method

Shake the bottle well before measuring the dose. Take orally.

Important

Do not exceed the stated dose. The usual daily dose for a child is 20-30 mg per kg of body weight, divided into smaller doses.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach irritation.
RARE
  • Headache, dizziness, insomnia, agitation, irritability, or fatigue.
  • Flatulence, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions (rash, asthma attacks, swelling of the tongue, difficulty breathing).
  • Kidney problems.
  • Liver problems.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Skin sensitivity to light.
  • Chest pain, which may be a sign of a severe allergic reaction (Kounis syndrome).
  • Blood in stool, black tarry stools, vomiting blood or dark particles resembling coffee grounds.
  • Unexplained wheezing, shortness of breath, itching or bruising, feeling faint, heart palpitations, or fluid retention (e.g., swollen ankles), not enough urine.
  • Aseptic meningitis (stiff neck, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, and confusion).
  • Swelling of the face.
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Severe skin reactions: red, raised, target-like or ring-shaped patches, blisters, skin peeling, sores in mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes.

Important Warnings

  • Do not give if your child is allergic to ibuprofen or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not give if your child has had asthma attacks, runny nose, or skin reactions (e.g., rash) when using aspirin or other anti-inflammatory pain medicines.
  • Do not give if your child has or has had a stomach ulcer, perforation, or bleeding more than once.
  • Do not give if your child has severe kidney, heart, or liver problems.
  • Do not give if your child is dehydrated, as this can lead to kidney failure.

  • Do not give if your child is under 3 months old or weighs less than 5 kg.
  • Do not use Burana oral suspension during chickenpox.
  • Stop use and contact a doctor immediately if you notice severe skin reactions (e.g., skin blistering, peeling) or signs of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficulty breathing, swelling of the face).
  • If your child has an infection and symptoms (such as fever or pain) continue or worsen, contact a doctor immediately.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
