How to Use

Dosage

For adults, typically 400-600 mg, 3-4 times a day. For children under 12, 20-40 mg/kg daily, divided into 3-4 doses.

Method

Take the tablets with enough liquid, such as a glass of water. You can take them with or without food, but taking them with food may reduce stomach upset.

Important

For adults, the maximum daily dose is 3200 mg, and the maximum single dose is 1600 mg. For children, the maximum single dose is 10 mg/kg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Easy bruising or nosebleeds
  • Low mood or tiredness
  • Dizziness or headache
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Worsening heart failure (increased swelling or shortness of breath)
  • Swelling in the arms and legs
  • Heartburn, upper stomach pain, nausea or diarrhea
  • Hives, itchy skin or strong swelling of skin or mucous membranes
RARE
  • Reduced number of platelets (may lead to increased bruising or nosebleeds)
  • Reduced or loss of white blood cells (may be linked to unexplained fever, flu-like symptoms or sore throat)
  • Increased potassium levels in the blood
  • Blurred vision or changes in the cornea of the eye
  • State of confusion
  • Meningitis (inflammation of the membranes around the brain and spinal cord, especially in patients with certain connective tissue diseases)
  • Hearing loss
  • Worsening symptoms of coronary artery disease (increased chest pain) or irregular heartbeats
  • Worsening shortness of breath or asthma
  • Perforations in the digestive tract, worsening of ulcerative colitis, inflammation of the salivary glands or pancreas
  • Increased liver enzyme values, jaundice (yellow skin/eyes) or liver inflammation (may cause upper abdominal pain)
  • Severe skin reactions with peeling or blisters, sensitivity to light, worsening acne or psoriasis, hair loss, or SLE
  • Decline in kidney function
  • Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have stomach or duodenal ulcers, or a history of them, or bleeding in the digestive tract.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart failure or a tendency to bleed.
  • Do not use if you are in the last trimester of pregnancy.
  • Do not use if you have asthma or are allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin, or other similar pain relievers.
  • Stop taking Burana and contact a doctor immediately if you get chest pain, severe skin reactions (like red spots or blisters), trouble breathing, severe stomach pain, or blood in your vomit.

  • Contact a doctor as soon as possible if you get heartburn, mild stomach problems, black stools, easy bruising, nosebleeds, or swollen arms and legs.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
