How to Use

Dosage

For adults and young people over 12 years, typically take 1 to 2 tablets (200 mg strength) or ½ to 1 tablet (400 mg strength), 1 to 3 times a day.

Method

Take tablets with enough liquid, such as a glass of water. You can take them with or without food, but taking them with food may help prevent stomach upset.

Important

For adults, do not exceed 1200 mg (6 tablets of 200 mg or 3 tablets of 400 mg) in a 24-hour period. For children, the maximum daily dose is 30 mg/kg of body weight.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach upset, including heartburn, stomach pain, nausea, or diarrhea.
  • Dizziness, headache, or feeling sleepy.
  • Skin rash, itching, or swelling (hives).
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Swelling in the hands or feet.
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions, including difficulty breathing or sudden swelling of the face or throat.
  • Problems with vision (blurred vision) or hearing (hearing loss).
  • Liver problems (yellow skin or eyes, upper stomach pain) or kidney problems.
  • Changes in blood cell counts, which can lead to easy bruising, bleeding from the nose, or frequent infections.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to ibuprofen or any other ingredient in the medicine.
  • Do not use if you have stomach ulcers, severe heart problems, or are in the last three months of pregnancy.
  • Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor immediately if you get severe skin rashes, chest pain, difficulty breathing, or severe stomach pain with bleeding.
  • Do not take higher doses or use for longer than recommended, as this increases the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
