How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is one 150 mg tablet once a day. Your doctor may increase the dose to 300 mg once a day if your depression does not improve after several weeks.

Method

Take your Bupropion Omet Pharma tablets in the morning. Do not take Bupropion Omet Pharma more than once a day. Swallow the tablets whole. Do not chew, crush, or divide them, as this can lead to an overdose and increase the risk of side effects, including seizures.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 300 mg, taken once daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Headache
  • Dry mouth
  • Feeling sick (nausea), vomiting
  • Fever, dizziness, itching, sweating, rash (sometimes allergic)
  • Shaking, tremor, weakness, tiredness, chest pain
  • Anxiety or agitation
  • Stomach pain or other gut problems (e.g. constipation), changes in taste, loss of appetite
  • Increased blood pressure (sometimes severe), flushing
  • Ringing in the ears, vision problems
RARE
  • Worsening depression
  • Feeling confused
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Weight loss
  • Seizures (fits)
  • Pounding heart (palpitations), fainting
  • Twitching, stiff muscles, uncontrolled movements, problems with walking or coordination
  • Restlessness, irritability, hostility, aggression, strange dreams, numbness or tingling, memory problems
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), possibly due to liver problems
  • Severe allergic reactions; rash with joint and muscle pain
  • Changes in blood sugar levels
  • Increased or decreased need to urinate
  • Loss of bladder control (unintentional urination, leakage)
  • Severe rash in the mouth or other body parts that can be life-threatening
  • Worsening of psoriasis (red, thickened skin patches)
  • Feeling unreal or strange (depersonalization); seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations) or strong false beliefs (delusions, paranoia)
  • Suicidal thoughts or actions
  • Changes in mental state (e.g. restlessness, hallucinations, coma), and other effects like fever over 38°C, fast heart rate, unstable blood pressure, stiff muscles, lack of coordination, or stomach problems (e.g. nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) when taken with other antidepressants.
  • Feeling detached from reality and not being able to think clearly (psychosis). Other symptoms may include seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations) and/or false beliefs (delusions).
  • Stuttering
  • Decreased red blood cells (anemia), white blood cells (leukopenia), and platelets (thrombocytopenia)
  • Low blood sodium levels (hyponatremia)
  • Lupus rash or worsening of lupus symptoms
  • Acute widespread rash with pus-filled bumps (AGEP)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to bupropion or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are taking other medicines that contain bupropion.
  • Do not take if you have been diagnosed with epilepsy or have had seizures.
  • Do not take if you have or have had an eating disorder (e.g., bulimia or anorexia).
  • Do not take if you have a brain tumor.

  • Do not take if you usually drink a lot of alcohol and have recently stopped or plan to stop drinking.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take if you have recently stopped or plan to stop taking sedatives during Bupropion Omet Pharma treatment.
  • Do not take if you are using or have used antidepressants called monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors in the last 14 days.
  • If you get a seizure while taking this medicine, stop taking it and contact your doctor.
  • If you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., rash, swelling, trouble breathing), contact your doctor immediately and stop taking this medicine.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor or go to a hospital immediately.
