How to Use

Dosage

Usually two 2 mg/0.5 mg sublingual tablets once daily.

Method

Place the tablets under your tongue. Let them dissolve completely (takes 5-10 minutes). Do not chew, swallow, or eat/drink anything until they have dissolved.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 24 mg of buprenorphine.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to buprenorphine, naloxone, or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take if you have severe breathing problems.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take if you are intoxicated by alcohol or having alcohol withdrawal.
  • Do not take if you are taking naltrexone or nalmefene for alcohol or opioid dependence.

  • If you accidentally take too much, seek emergency medical help immediately.
  • Keep this medicine safe from theft and never give it to others, as it can cause serious harm or death.
  • Taking this medicine with alcohol, sedatives, or other opioids can cause severe, life-threatening breathing problems.
  • This medicine can cause withdrawal if taken too soon after other opioids (wait at least 6 hours for short-acting, 24 hours for long-acting). Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without doctor's advice.
  • Your doctor will monitor your liver with blood tests. Tell your doctor about any liver problems before starting treatment.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness due to a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing up quickly.
  • This medicine can cause sleep-related breathing problems like sleep apnea. Contact your doctor if you notice these symptoms.
  • Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you, as it can cause drowsiness and dizziness.
  • If pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy, talk to your doctor. This medicine can cause withdrawal and breathing problems in newborns. Do not breastfeed.
