How to Use

Dosage

Apply one patch to your skin and change it every seven days at the same time. Your doctor may adjust the dose until your pain is controlled.

Method

Apply the patch to clean, dry skin on your upper arm, chest, upper back, or side. Change the patch every seven days.

Important

Do not use more than two patches at the same time.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness, sleepiness
  • Constipation, nausea, vomiting
  • Itching
  • Rash, redness, itching, inflammation or swelling at application site
  • Loss of appetite
  • Confusion, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, nervousness, shaking
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stomach pain or discomfort, diarrhea, indigestion, dry mouth
  • Sweating, skin rash, skin changes
  • Tiredness, unusual weakness, muscle weakness, swelling in hands, ankles, and feet
RARE
  • Mood changes, restlessness, agitation, feeling overly happy, hallucinations, nightmares, decreased sex drive, aggression, memory loss, personality changes, feeling unreal
  • Changes in taste, speech difficulties, decreased sensitivity to pain or touch, tingling or numbness, dry eyes, blurred vision, ringing in ears, dizziness (spinning sensation), balance problems
  • High or low blood pressure, chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, angina (severe chest pain due to heart condition)
  • Cough, hiccups, wheezing, worsening asthma, unusually strong breathing, nasal swelling and irritation
  • Gas, weight loss, difficulty swallowing, inflammation of the bowel wall (fever, vomiting, stomach pain), colic-like stomach pain
  • Difficulty starting urination, difficulty emptying bladder
  • Dry skin, muscle spasms, muscle pain, skin blisters, contact dermatitis (rash with inflammation and burning sensation), skin discoloration
  • Fever, increased accidents (e.g., falls), flu-like symptoms, dehydration, ear pain, small pupils, fainting (especially when standing up), withdrawal symptoms (agitation, anxiety, sweating, tremors upon stopping), erectile dysfunction, sexual dysfunction
  • Withdrawal symptoms in newborns whose mothers received buprenorphine during pregnancy (e.g., high-pitched crying, irritability, tremors, feeding difficulties, sweating, slow weight gain)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to buprenorphine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing problems.
  • Do not use if you have a history of drug or alcohol dependence.
  • Do not use if you are taking or have taken MAO inhibitor medicines (for depression) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not use if you have myasthenia gravis (a disease causing muscle weakness).

  • Do not use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Do not drink alcohol while using this medicine, as it can worsen side effects.
  • Do not drive or operate machines if you feel dizzy, sleepy, or have blurred vision. Avoid these activities for 24 hours after removing the patch.
  • Remove the patch and contact your doctor immediately if you have sudden wheezing, difficulty breathing, swelling of eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching, especially all over your body.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Low transdermal efficacy in cachectic patients. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. (updated 24.3.2025)
