How to Use

Dosage

Apply one transdermal patch to your skin every seven days.

Method

Apply the patch to clean, dry, unbroken skin on the upper arm, chest, upper back, or side of the chest. Change the patch at the same time on the same day each week.

Important

Do not use more than two patches at the same time and do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to buprenorphine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have breathing difficulties.
  • Do not use if you have a dependency on medicines or drugs.
  • Do not use if you are taking MAO inhibitors (e.g., tranylcypromine, phenelzine, isocarboxazid, moclobemide, and linezolid) or have taken them within the last two weeks.
  • Do not use if you have myasthenia gravis (a severe muscle weakness condition).

  • Do not use if you have experienced withdrawal symptoms like restlessness, anxiety, tremors, or sweating when stopping alcohol.
  • Buprenorphine Stada should not be used to treat drug withdrawal symptoms.
  • Tell your doctor if you have convulsions or seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe headaches or nausea from a head injury, or high pressure in the brain, as the patch might worsen symptoms or mask the injury.
  • Tell your doctor if you feel dizzy or faint.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever been dependent on medicines or alcohol.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a fever, as more of the active substance from the patch may be absorbed into your bloodstream.
  • Tell your doctor if you have depression or other conditions treated with antidepressants, as using them with Buprenorphine Stada can lead to serotonin syndrome, which can be life-threatening.
  • If you have had recent surgery, talk to your doctor before using these patches.
  • Buprenorphine Stada can cause sleep-related breathing problems like sleep apnea and low oxygen in the blood. If you notice these symptoms, contact your doctor.
  • This medicine contains buprenorphine, an opioid, and repeated use can lead to tolerance, dependence, and addiction, with a risk of life-threatening overdose.
  • Do not give this medicine to children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Do not cut or divide the transdermal patch.
  • Do not expose the patch to intense heat (e.g., heating pads, saunas, hot baths), as this may cause more of the active substance to be absorbed into your bloodstream.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you plan to become pregnant. Consult your doctor if unsure.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy, drowsy, or have blurred vision, or for 24 hours after removing the patch.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Low transdermal efficacy in cachectic patients. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. (updated 24.3.2025)
