How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose. Typically, one patch is applied to the skin and changed every seven days.

Method

Apply the patch to a clean, dry, and intact skin area (e.g., upper arm, chest, or upper back) with minimal hair. Change the patch once a week.

Important

Do not use more than two patches at the same time, and do not cut or split the patches.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness, drowsiness
  • Constipation, nausea, vomiting
  • Itching, redness, rash, or swelling at the patch application site
  • Feeling tired or unusually weak, muscle weakness
  • Loss of appetite, confusion, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, nervousness, shaking (tremor)
RARE
  • Severe sleep problems, restlessness, strong mood changes, hallucinations, nightmares, decreased sex drive, aggression
  • Memory loss, migraine, fainting, trouble concentrating or coordinating movements
  • Dry eyes, blurred vision
  • High or low blood pressure, chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Muscle spasms, aches, and pains (myalgia), difficulty urinating
  • Flu-like symptoms, increased thirst and dark urine (signs of dehydration)
  • New or worsening asthma, unusually fast or deep breathing
  • Signs of drug dependence or withdrawal symptoms (like agitation, anxiety, sweating, or tremors) if you stop taking the medicine

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to buprenorphine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have breathing difficulties or other respiratory problems.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have a drug or substance dependence.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are taking certain antidepressants (MAO inhibitors) or have taken them in the last two weeks.
  • This medicine should not be given to children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

  • Remove the patch and contact your doctor immediately if you experience sudden wheezing, difficulty swallowing or breathing, swelling of the face or lips, rash or itching, especially if it spreads over your whole body. These can be signs of a severe allergic reaction.
  • Using Bupremyl with sedatives can cause severe drowsiness and breathing difficulties, which can be life-threatening. Consult your doctor.
  • Do not use Bupremyl if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor has specifically advised it.
  • Bupremyl may impair your ability to drive and operate machinery, especially at the start of treatment, when increasing the dose, or if you are taking other medicines.
