How to Use
Dosage
Your doctor will tell you which strength to use. Apply one patch to your skin and change it every seven days.
Method
Apply the patch to a clean, dry, hairless area of skin on your upper arm, chest, or back. Press it firmly for 30 seconds to make sure it sticks well.
Important
Do not use more than two patches at the same time, and the total dose should not be more than 40 micrograms per hour.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Headache, feeling dizzy, or feeling sleepy.
- •Constipation, feeling sick to your stomach (nausea), throwing up (vomiting), stomach pain, upset stomach, or dry mouth.
- •Itching, rash, redness, swelling, or irritation where the patch is placed.
- •Feeling confused, sad, anxious, nervous, having trouble sleeping, or tremors.
- •Feeling tired, unusually weak, or having weak muscles; swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet.
RARE
- •Very slow or shallow breathing, or pauses in breathing during sleep.
- •Signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or widespread rash and itching.
- •Chest pain or a fast or irregular heartbeat.
- •Blurred vision or dry eyes.
- •Fainting or severe dizziness, especially when standing up.
- •If used during pregnancy, babies may have withdrawal symptoms like high-pitched crying, irritability, tremors, feeding problems, or sweating.
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to buprenorphine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Tell your doctor if you have severe breathing problems or stop breathing during sleep (sleep apnea).
- Inform your doctor if you have severe liver problems.
- Tell your doctor if you have a history of drug or alcohol dependence. This medicine can lead to addiction.
- Do not expose the patch to strong heat (like heating pads, saunas, hot baths) as this can make your body absorb too much medicine.
