How to Use

Dosage

The typical dose for breast cancer is 260 mg per square meter of body surface area (mg/m²).

Method

A doctor or nurse will give you this medicine as an intravenous infusion (drip into a vein) over 30 minutes.

Important

Your doctor will determine your appropriate dose and treatment schedule, as this medicine is not typically taken daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Hair loss
  • Skin rash
  • Low white blood cell count, increasing infection risk
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia), causing tiredness and weakness
  • Low platelet count, increasing bleeding risk
  • Nerve problems in hands and feet (pain, numbness, tingling, or loss of feeling)
  • Pain in joints and muscles
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, sore mouth, loss of appetite
  • Weakness, tiredness, fever
  • Dehydration, changes in taste, weight loss
  • Low potassium levels in blood
  • Depression, sleep problems
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Dizziness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling in mucous membranes and soft tissues
  • Elevated liver test results
  • Pain in arms and legs
  • Cough
  • Stomach pain
  • Nosebleeds
  • Itching, dry skin, changes in nails
  • Infections with fever and reduced white blood cells, redness, thrush, severe blood infection

  • Poor muscle coordination, difficulty reading, changes in tear production, eyelash loss

  • Lung infection (pneumonia)
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Bowel obstruction, inflammation of the colon or bile ducts
  • Acute kidney failure
  • High bilirubin levels in blood
  • Coughing up blood
  • Dry mouth, difficulty swallowing
  • Muscle weakness
  • Blurred vision
RARE
  • Weight gain, changes in blood test values (e.g., LDH, blood sugar, phosphorus), reduced kidney function
  • Weak or absent reflexes, involuntary movements, nerve pain, fainting, dizziness when standing, tremor, facial nerve paralysis
  • Eye irritation, pain or redness in eyes, itchy eyes, double vision, reduced vision or flashing lights, blurred vision due to retinal swelling
  • Ear pain, ringing in ears
  • Cough with mucus, shortness of breath when walking or climbing stairs, runny or dry nose, reduced breathing sounds, fluid in lungs, loss of voice, blood clot in lungs, dry throat
  • Gas, stomach cramps, sore or tender gums, rectal bleeding
  • Painful or frequent urination, blood in urine, inability to hold urine
  • Nail pain, nail problems or loss, hives, skin pain, red skin from sun exposure, skin discoloration, increased sweating, night sweats, white skin patches, sores, facial swelling
  • Low blood phosphorus, fluid retention, low blood albumin, increased thirst, low blood calcium, low blood sugar, low blood sodium
  • Nasal pain and swelling, skin infections, catheter-related infection
  • Bruising
  • Pain at tumor site, death caused by tumor
  • Low blood pressure when standing, cold hands and feet
  • Walking difficulties, swelling
  • Allergic reaction
  • Impaired liver function, enlarged liver
  • Chest pain
  • Restlessness
  • Small skin bleeding caused by blood clots
  • A condition involving red blood cell destruction and acute kidney failure (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome)
  • Skin reaction to another substance or lung inflammation after radiation therapy
  • Blood clot
  • Very slow pulse, heart attack
  • Leakage of medicine outside the vein
  • Disorder of heart's electrical activity (atrioventricular block)
  • Severe inflammatory skin and mucous membrane symptoms (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Skin hardening/thickening (scleroderma)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Bugvi if you are allergic to paclitaxel or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not breastfeed if you are using this medicine.
  • Do not use Bugvi if you have a very low white blood cell count (your doctor will inform you).
  • Do not use Bugvi if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are a woman of childbearing potential not using effective contraception.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems.

  • Tell your doctor if you experience breathing difficulties, such as shortness of breath or a dry cough.
  • Bugvi may cause tiredness or dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these symptoms.
