How to Use

Dosage

For acute inflammation, the typical dose is three capsules once daily in the morning.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with half a glass of water about 30 minutes before a meal. Do not chew the capsules.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cushing's syndrome, which may include a rounded face, weight gain, high blood pressure, and high blood sugar.
  • Stomach problems, such as abdominal pain or indigestion.
  • Increased risk of infections.
  • Muscle and joint pain, muscle weakness.
  • Weakening of bones (osteoporosis).
  • Headache.
  • Mood changes, such as depression or irritability.
  • Skin reactions, such as rash or skin irritation.
RARE
  • Stomach or duodenal ulcers.
  • Restlessness or anxiety.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
  • Bone damage due to poor blood circulation.
  • Aggression.
  • Bruising.
  • Slowed growth in children.
  • Constipation.
  • Increased pressure in the brain or eyes (in adolescents).
  • Increased risk of blood clots or blood vessel inflammation.
  • Tiredness and general feeling of being unwell.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to budesonide or have a severe liver disease, like liver cirrhosis.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have other health problems like tuberculosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, weak bones (osteoporosis), or stomach ulcers.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an infection or if you have been in contact with someone who has chickenpox or shingles and you haven't had these illnesses yourself.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can change how the medicine works.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Category C
