How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the correct dosage and treatment duration for you.

Method

Apply the cream only to the affected skin areas. Do not use on open wounds or chafed skin.

Important

Use only as directed by your doctor. Avoid long-term use and large amounts of cream. For infants, do not use for more than 7 days.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Thinning and fragility of the skin, especially on the face, around the eyes, armpits, and skin folds with long-term use.
  • Stretch marks, widening of superficial blood vessels, and bruising.
RARE
  • Weakening of adrenal gland function.
  • Allergic skin reactions (contact dermatitis).
  • Worsening of skin rash or withdrawal symptoms after stopping long-term treatment (e.g., severe redness, stinging, burning, itching, peeling skin, weeping blisters).
  • Symptoms of Cushing's syndrome (e.g., 'moon face', muscle weakness, bone loss, high blood pressure, mood changes) and slowed growth in children.
  • Increased eye pressure, cataracts, glaucoma, blurred vision.
  • Acne, changes in skin color, increased body hair, rash around the mouth (perioral dermatitis), rosacea, and slow wound healing.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to hydrocortisone butyrate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use on skin infections caused by viruses, bacteria, or fungi (e.g., cold sores, chickenpox, impetigo).
  • Do not use on open wounds, leg ulcers, or bedsores.
  • Do not use if you have rosacea or a rash around the mouth (perioral dermatitis).
  • Do not use for children under 1 year of age who have a rash.

  • Avoid using on sensitive skin areas like the face, around the eyes, or genitals. The cream must not get into the eyes or ears.
  • Contact your doctor if your skin gets thinner or irritated where you apply the cream, or if symptoms do not improve in 2-4 weeks or get worse.
  • Using Bucort on large skin areas, in skin folds, or under bandages (occlusive dressings) can increase absorption, especially in children, and may cause side effects.
  • If you experience blurred vision or other eye problems, contact your doctor.
