How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose. For adults and children weighing 50 kg or more, it's usually 25-100 mg twice a day. For children weighing 20-50 kg, it's 0.5-2 mg per kg twice a day. For children weighing 10-20 kg, it's 0.5-2.5 mg per kg twice a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of liquid. You can take this medicine with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is generally 200 mg. Your doctor will determine the correct dose for you.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling sleepy or dizzy
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Feeling very tired
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo) or convulsions
  • Nausea, vomiting, or constipation
  • Feeling depressed, anxious, unable to sleep, or irritable
  • Nose and throat infections (like a common cold), cough
  • Decreased appetite
  • Restlessness and hyperactivity (in children)
RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Abnormal thoughts, losing touch with reality (psychosis), aggression, or agitation
  • Low number of white blood cells (neutropenia), seen in blood tests
  • Widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to brivaracetam or similar medicines (like levetiracetam or piracetam) or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Stop taking and get medical help right away if you get a severe rash with blisters or peeling skin, especially around your mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be changed.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years old.
