How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much to take. It is usually taken twice a day, about 12 hours apart.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take the medicine with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 200 mg for adults, but your doctor may adjust it in special cases, especially if you have liver problems.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Drowsiness or dizziness
  • Flu
  • Very strong tiredness
  • Convulsions, spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Nausea and vomiting, constipation
  • Depression, anxiety, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), irritability
  • Nose and throat infections (like common cold), cough
  • Decreased appetite
  • Restlessness and hyperactivity (in children)
RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Abnormal thoughts or loss of touch with reality (psychosis), aggression, agitation
  • Thoughts or attempts to harm oneself or commit suicide. Tell your doctor right away.
  • Decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia), seen in blood tests
  • Severe rash with blisters and skin peeling (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to brivaracetam, similar medicines, or any other ingredients.
  • Stop using and seek immediate medical help if you develop a severe rash, blisters, or skin peeling.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years old.
