How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose. It is usually taken twice a day, about 12 hours apart.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of liquid. You can take this medicine with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose depends on your weight and liver health, and your doctor will adjust it for you.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Flu
  • Feeling very tired (fatigue)
  • Seizures, feeling like "the world is spinning" (vertigo)
  • Nausea and vomiting, constipation
  • Depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping (insomnia), irritability
  • Nose and throat infections (like a common cold), cough
  • Decreased appetite
  • Restlessness and overactivity (in children)
RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Unusual thoughts and/or losing touch with reality (psychotic disorder), aggressive behavior, agitation
  • Thoughts or attempts to harm yourself or commit suicide (tell your doctor immediately)
  • Decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia), seen in blood tests
  • Widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin, especially around the mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to brivaracetam, similar substances, or any other ingredients.
  • Stop taking this medicine immediately and see a doctor if you develop a severe rash, blisters, or peeling skin (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have thoughts of harming yourself or committing suicide.
  • If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
  • It is not recommended to use this medicine with alcohol, as alcohol can increase side effects.

  • Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding unless instructed by your doctor, as effects on the fetus or child are unknown.
  • This medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as seizures may increase.
  • The tablets contain lactose (a type of sugar). Talk to your doctor if you have a sugar intolerance.
