How to Use

Dosage

The typical starting dose for adults and children weighing 50 kg or more is 25-100 mg, taken twice a day. For lighter children, the dose depends on their weight. Your doctor will determine your exact dose.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. You can take this medicine with or without food.

Important

For adults, the maximum daily dose is usually 200 mg. If you have liver problems, your maximum daily dose will be lower, up to 150 mg.

RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Unusual thoughts or losing touch with reality (psychotic disorder)
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Agitation
  • Low white blood cell count (seen in blood tests)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to brivaracetam, similar medicines (like levetiracetam), or any other ingredients.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor right away if you get a severe skin rash, blistering, or peeling skin (Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, talk to your doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be changed.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can make side effects worse.

  • It is not recommended to use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as its effects on the baby are not known. Talk to your doctor.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy, dizzy, or tired. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as it can increase your seizures. Your doctor will help you stop gradually.
