How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the correct dose. You usually take it twice a day, about 12 hours apart.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take them with or without food.

Important

Follow your doctor's instructions for the maximum daily dose. If you have liver problems, your dose may be lower.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Drowsiness or dizziness
  • Flu
  • Very strong tiredness
  • Convulsions or a spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Nausea, vomiting, or constipation
  • Depression, anxiety, insomnia, or irritability
  • Nose and throat infections (like common cold) or cough
  • Decreased appetite
  • Restlessness and hyperactivity (in children)
RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Abnormal thoughts, psychosis, aggressiveness, or agitation
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
  • Decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia)
  • Widespread rash with blisters and skin peeling (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to brivaracetam, similar medicines, or any other ingredient in it.
  • If you get a severe rash, blisters, or peeling skin, stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor right away.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.

  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially rifampicin or St. John's wort.
  • Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can increase side effects.
  • Talk to your doctor about birth control if you can become pregnant. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine can cause drowsiness, dizziness, or tiredness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • Do not stop taking the medicine without talking to your doctor first, as it could increase your seizures.
