How to Use
Dosage
Your doctor will decide your dose. Take half the dose in the morning and half in the evening, about 12 hours apart. If you have liver problems, your doctor may adjust your dose.
Method
Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. You can take them with or without food.
Important
The maximum daily dose is usually 200 mg. If you have liver problems, your doctor will set a lower maximum dose for you.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Feeling sleepy or dizzy
- •Flu or flu-like symptoms
- •Feeling very tired
- •Balance problems or feeling like the world is spinning (vertigo)
- •Nausea, vomiting, or constipation
- •Depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping, or irritability
- •Nose and throat infections (like a common cold) or cough
- •Loss of appetite
- •Restlessness and hyperactivity (in children)
RARE
- •Allergic reactions
- •Unusual thoughts or losing touch with reality (psychotic disorder), aggressive behavior, or agitation
- •Low white blood cell count (neutropenia), seen in blood tests
Important Warnings
- Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to brivaracetam or similar medicines like levetiracetam or piracetam, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor right away if you develop a severe rash, skin peeling, blisters, or mouth sores after taking Brivaracetam Holsten.
- If you have thoughts of harming yourself or committing suicide, contact your doctor immediately.
- Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
- Brivaracetam Holsten is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.
