How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much to take. Typically, adults and children over 50 kg take 25-100 mg twice a day. Children weighing 20-50 kg take 0.5-2 mg per kg twice a day. Children weighing 10-20 kg take 0.5-2.5 mg per kg twice a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food, dividing the daily dose into two equal doses about 12 hours apart.

Important

For adults and children over 50 kg, the maximum daily dose is 200 mg. For children weighing 20-50 kg, the maximum is 4 mg per kg. For children weighing 10-20 kg, the maximum is 5 mg per kg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Sleepiness, dizziness
  • Feeling very tired
  • Feeling like you're spinning (vertigo)
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation
  • Depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping, irritability
  • Nose and throat infections (like a common cold), cough
  • Loss of appetite
  • Restlessness and overactivity (in children)
RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Unusual thoughts or losing touch with reality (psychotic disorder), aggressive behavior, agitation
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or suicide (tell your doctor right away)
  • Decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia), shown in blood tests

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to brivaracetam or similar medicines.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor right away if you develop a severe skin rash (blisters, peeling skin, or sores).
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide.
  • Inform your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.

  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can worsen side effects.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as the effects on the baby are not known.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor first, as stopping suddenly can increase your seizures.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy, dizzy, or tired. Do not drive, cycle, or use tools or machines until you know how it affects you.
