How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your specific daily dose. You should divide your daily dose into two equal amounts, taken about 12 hours apart.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of liquid. You can take this medicine with or without food.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose. For most adults, this is up to 200 mg per day. If you have liver problems, your maximum dose will be lower.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling sleepy or dizzy.
  • Flu-like symptoms.
  • Feeling very tired.
  • Convulsions.
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo).
  • Nausea.
  • Vomiting.
  • Constipation.
  • Depression.
  • Anxiety.
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia).
  • Irritability.
  • Nose and throat infections (like common cold).
  • Cough.
  • Decreased appetite.
  • Restlessness and overactivity (in children).
RARE
  • Allergic reactions.
  • Unusual thoughts or feeling out of touch with reality (psychotic disorder).
  • Aggression.
  • Agitation (nervous restlessness).
  • Thoughts or attempts to harm yourself or commit suicide (tell your doctor immediately).
  • Decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia), seen in blood tests.
  • Severe widespread rash with blisters and skin peeling (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), especially around the mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to brivaracetam or similar medicines like levetiracetam, piracetam, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor immediately if you develop a severe rash, skin peeling, blisters, or sores in your mouth after taking it.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor right away.
  • If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.

  • Do not use this medicine with alcohol, as it may increase the negative effects of alcohol.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Do not drive, cycle, or use tools or machines until you know how this medicine affects you, as it may cause drowsiness or dizziness.
