How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose. For adults (50 kg or more), the usual dose is 25-100 mg twice a day. Doses for children are based on their weight and determined by their doctor.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of liquid. You can take them with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is generally 200 mg. For people with liver problems, the maximum daily dose is 150 mg. Doses for children are lower and depend on their weight.

  • trouble sleeping (insomnia)

  • nose and throat infections (like a common cold)
  • cough
  • decreased appetite
  • restlessness and overactivity (in children)
RARE
  • allergic reactions
  • unusual thoughts or losing touch with reality (psychotic disorder)
  • aggressive behavior
  • nervous agitation or restlessness
  • thoughts or attempts to harm oneself or commit suicide
  • low white blood cell count (neutropenia)
  • severe widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin, especially around the mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)

Important Warnings

  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, tell your doctor right away.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor. Stopping suddenly can make your seizures worse.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy or dizzy. Do not drive or use machines until you know how it affects you.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • It is not recommended to drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can make side effects worse.

  • Do not take this medicine if you have had a severe skin rash (like Stevens-Johnson syndrome) or if you are allergic to brivaracetam or similar medicines.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
