How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the right daily dose for you. For adults, it's typically 25 to 100 mg, taken twice a day. For children, the dose is based on their weight.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. You can take this medicine with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is typically 200 mg. If you have liver problems, your doctor may adjust your maximum dose.

  • Drowsiness or dizziness
  • Feeling very tired (fatigue)
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping (insomnia), irritability
  • Nose and throat infections (like a common cold), cough
  • Reduced appetite
  • Restlessness and overactivity (in children)
RARE
  • Allergic reactions
  • Unusual thoughts, loss of contact with reality (psychosis), aggression, agitation
  • Thoughts or attempts of self-harm or suicide
  • A decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia), seen in blood tests

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to brivaracetam or similar medicines (like levetiracetam or piracetam), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor immediately if you develop a severe skin rash, blistering, or mouth sores.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years old.

  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can make side effects worse.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as its effects on the baby are not known.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy, dizzy, or tired. Do not drive or use machines until you know how it affects you.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will slowly lower your dose to prevent seizures from returning or getting worse.
