How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the dose based on your height and weight. The usual starting dose is 1.3 mg per square meter of body surface area, given twice a week.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection, either into a vein (intravenously) over 3-5 seconds or under the skin (subcutaneously) in the thigh or abdomen. A healthcare professional will prepare and administer it.

Important

The maximum dose is determined by your doctor based on your specific treatment plan, which consists of several treatment cycles (e.g., up to 8 cycles or 24 weeks, or 9 cycles or 54 weeks).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Numbness, tingling, or pain in hands or feet (nerve damage).
  • Feeling very tired or weak (due to low red blood cells).
  • Getting infections more easily (due to low white blood cells).
  • Bruising or bleeding easily (due to low platelets).
  • Fever.
  • Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite.
  • Diarrhea or constipation.
  • Muscle or bone pain.
  • Headache, dizziness, feeling faint.
  • Changes in blood pressure (low or high).
  • Swelling in the body (e.g., around eyes, feet).
  • Skin rashes, itching, or dryness.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Mouth sores or dry mouth.
  • Difficulty sleeping or changes in mood.
  • Shingles (herpes zoster).
RARE
  • Serious heart problems (e.g., heart attack, heart failure, chest pain, abnormal heartbeat).
  • Severe breathing difficulties or lung problems (e.g., wheezing, shallow breathing).
  • Blood clots in veins or lungs, or in small blood vessels.
  • Stroke or bleeding in the brain.
  • Severe nerve inflammation leading to paralysis (Guillain-Barré syndrome).
  • Yellow skin or eyes (liver problems).
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., difficulty breathing, chest pain, swelling of face/throat).
  • Seizures or confusion.
  • Loss of memory or changes in consciousness.
  • Hearing loss or ringing in the ears.
  • Kidney failure.
  • Pancreatitis or bile duct problems.
  • Vision loss or abnormal vision.
  • Hair loss and changes in hair structure.
  • Swollen lymph nodes.
  • Broken bones (fractures).
  • Coma or multiple organ failure.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Bortezomib MSN if you are allergic to bortezomib, boron, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Bortezomib MSN if you have certain severe lung or heart problems.
  • Do not use if pregnant, unless absolutely necessary. Use effective contraception during and for 8 months after treatment. Men should also use effective contraception. Do not breastfeed.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had a Hepatitis B infection, as it can reactivate during treatment.
