How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the correct dose based on your height and weight; typically, the starting dose is 1.3 mg per square meter of body surface area, given twice a week.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a vein (intravenously) or under the skin (subcutaneously), usually in the thigh or abdomen. A healthcare professional will administer the injection.

Important

Your doctor will decide your maximum daily dose based on your treatment cycles and condition; treatment lasts for a maximum of 8 cycles (24 weeks).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nerve damage causing numbness, tingling, or pain in hands or feet.
  • Reduction in red and/or white blood cells (fatigue, paleness, increased infection risk).
  • Fever.
  • Nausea, vomiting, reduced appetite.
  • Constipation (may be severe) or diarrhea (drink more water).
  • Tiredness, feeling weak.
  • Muscle pain, bone pain.
  • Low or high blood pressure, dizziness, fainting.
  • Headache, chills.
  • Infections (e.g., pneumonia, flu-like illness, shingles).
  • Rashes, itchy skin, dry skin.
  • Mouth sores, dry mouth, sore throat.
  • Swelling in body parts, including around the eyes.
RARE
  • Heart problems (heart failure, heart attack, chest pain).
  • Blood clots in veins or lungs.
  • Paralysis, seizures, movement disorders.
  • Lung problems (shortness of breath, difficulty breathing).
  • Kidney damage, changes in urine.
  • Memory loss, confusion, changes in consciousness.
  • Hearing loss or ringing in the ears.
  • Eye irritation, blurred vision, eye infections.
  • Severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, swelling of face/lips/tongue).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bortezomib, boron, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe lung or heart problems.
  • You will have regular blood tests during treatment.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Discuss contraception with your doctor.
  • This medicine may cause tiredness or dizziness. Be careful when driving or operating machines.
