How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 1.3 mg/m² of body surface area twice a week, but your doctor will determine the exact dose based on your specific condition.

Method

The medicine is given as an injection into a vein (intravenously) or under the skin (subcutaneously); the intravenous injection is fast (3-5 seconds), and the subcutaneous injection is given in the thigh or abdomen.

Important

Your doctor will adjust the dose and number of treatment cycles based on how well the treatment works and if you experience side effects, so there is no fixed maximum daily dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Numbness, tingling, burning, or pain in hands or feet due to nerve damage.
  • Low red blood cells (anemia, causing tiredness, paleness), low white blood cells (making you prone to infections), or low platelets (causing easy bruising or bleeding).
  • Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation (can be severe), or diarrhea (drink plenty of water if you have this).
  • Feeling very tired or weak, muscle pain, bone pain.
  • Rash, itching, skin redness, or hair loss.
  • Fever, headache, dizziness, mouth sores, low or high blood pressure, and infections (like flu-like illness or shingles).
RARE
  • Heart failure, heart attack, chest pain, or changes in heart rate.
  • Severe allergic reaction with trouble breathing, chest pain, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, or severe itching.
  • Partial or total loss of vision or hearing.
  • Paralysis, memory loss, confusion, or seizures.
  • Blood clots in lungs or veins, or unusual bleeding (for example, in the brain or intestines).
  • Liver inflammation or kidney failure.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Bortezomib Avansor if you are allergic to bortezomib, boron, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Bortezomib Avansor if you have a certain severe lung or heart disease.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you experience muscle cramps, weakness, confusion, vision loss or blurred vision, seizures, headache, shortness of breath, swollen feet, changes in heart rate, high blood pressure, tiredness, fainting, cough, or chest tightness. These could be signs of serious problems.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Women who can get pregnant must use effective birth control during treatment and for 8 months after. Men must use effective birth control during treatment and for 5 months after to avoid getting someone pregnant.
  • This medicine can cause tiredness, dizziness, fainting, or blurred vision. Do not drive or use machines if you have these side effects. Even if you don't have symptoms, be careful.
