How to Use

Dosage

For the first three weeks, use one applicator full of gel daily. After that, use one dose twice a week.

Method

Insert the gel into your vagina using the applicator, preferably at bedtime.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one applicator full of gel for the first three weeks. Your doctor will aim for the lowest effective dose for the shortest time.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Itching in or around the vagina.
  • Local irritation in or around the vagina.
RARE
  • Lower abdominal pain.
  • Skin irritation.
  • Rash in the genital area.
  • Headache.
  • Vaginal yeast infection (candidiasis).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have or suspect breast cancer or other estrogen-sensitive cancer.
  • Do not use if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding or untreated uterine lining overgrowth.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had blood clots in your legs or lungs, or a blood clotting disorder.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a heart attack, stroke, or severe chest pain (angina).
  • Stop using and contact your doctor if your skin or eyes turn yellow (jaundice), or your blood pressure suddenly rises.

  • Stop using and contact your doctor if you get a new migraine or very bad headache.
  • Stop using and contact your doctor if you become pregnant.
  • Stop using and contact your doctor if you notice signs of a blood clot, like pain, swelling, or redness in your legs, sudden chest pain, or trouble breathing.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to estriol or any other ingredients.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

The classification depends on the dosage form. Systemic use (for example estrogen patch, tablet, gel): Avoid use in older adults. In systemic use, consider potential adverse effects, such as risk of cardiovascular diseases and venous thromboembolism. Consider potential interactions.
