How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your specific dose based on your condition, age, and other treatments.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection or infusion into a vein, artery, under the skin, into a muscle, directly into a tumor, or into the space around the lungs.

Important

The total lifetime dose should generally not exceed 400,000 IU, and may be lower for elderly patients or specific conditions. For daily infusions, typical doses are 10-15 x 10³ IU per square meter of body area.

COMMON
  • Lung inflammation (inflammatory changes in the lungs)
  • Pulmonary fibrosis (lung tissue disease)
  • Labored breathing
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Mucositis (inflammation of mucous membranes)
  • Stomatitis (inflammation of the oral mucosa)
  • Inflammatory skin redness
  • Itching
  • Stretch marks
  • Blisters
  • Hyperpigmentation (increased pigment formation)
  • Tenderness and swelling of fingertips
  • Hyperkeratosis (excessive skin thickening)
  • Hair loss
  • Severe hypersensitivity reactions (including wheezing, breathing difficulties, swelling of eyelids/face/lips, rash, or itching)
  • Idiosyncratic reaction (different types of hypersensitivity reactions)
  • Headache
  • Acute respiratory failure (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome – ARDS)
  • Respiratory failure
  • Pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung)
  • Rash, hives, erythema
  • Skin indurations (hardening of the skin)
  • Edema (fluid accumulation in tissues)

RARE
  • Bone marrow damage (myelosuppression)
  • Decreased white blood cell count (leukopenia)
  • Decreased neutrophil count (neutropenia)
  • Decreased platelet count (thrombocytopenia)

  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Low blood pressure
  • Angular cheilitis (infection at corners of the mouth) and diarrhea
  • Nail deformities and discoloration, blisters at pressure points
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Decreased urine output
  • Painful urination
  • Increased urine output
  • Urinary retention
  • Pain in tumor area
  • Phlebitis (inflammation in a vein)
  • Venous wall thickening and narrowing at the injection site
  • Indurations (tissue hardening after injection)
  • Febrile neutropenia (fever due to decreased white blood cells)
  • Heart attack, pericarditis (inflammation of the heart sac), and chest pain
  • Cerebral infarction (stroke), thrombotic microangiopathy, hemolytic uremic syndrome
  • Cerebral arteritis (inflammation of brain arteries)
  • Raynaud's phenomenon, arterial thrombosis, deep vein thrombosis
  • Liver failure
  • Scleroderma (hardening of connective tissue)
  • Tumor lysis syndrome (due to rapid tumor breakdown)
  • Severe infection (sepsis)
  • Severe decrease in all blood cell counts (pancytopenia)
  • Decreased red blood cell count (anemia)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bleomycin or similar cancer medicines.
  • Do not use if you have ataxia-telangiectasia (a rare inherited disease affecting movement coordination and increasing infection risk).
  • Do not use if you have acute lung inflammation, severe lung problems, or previous lung damage caused by bleomycin.
  • Do not breastfeed during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you are over 60 years old.

  • Tell your doctor if your kidneys or liver are not working properly.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had lung disease, or if you have received radiation therapy to your lungs.
  • Tell your doctor if you have chickenpox.
  • Tell your doctor if you are receiving oxygen therapy or are going to have surgery, as treatment may need to be adjusted.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop a cough, shortness of breath, or wheezing, as treatment may need to be stopped.
  • Avoid pregnancy during and for 6 months after treatment. Discuss sperm storage before treatment if you plan to have children in the future.
  • Do not drive or use machines if you experience nausea or vomiting, as it may affect your concentration.
  • For lymphoma patients, a test dose will be given, and you will be monitored for 4 hours before the first treatment due to the risk of severe allergic reactions.
  • Do not receive live vaccines during treatment, as they can cause serious infections.
