Bivalirudin Reig Jofre is a medicine that prevents blood clots and is used to treat chest pain from heart disease or during procedures to open narrowed blood vessels.
Your doctor will decide your exact dose based on your weight and treatment. For heart conditions, an initial injection of 0.1 mg per kg, followed by a drip of 0.25 mg per kg per hour for up to 72 hours, is common. For blood vessel opening procedures (angioplasty), an injection of 0.75 mg per kg, followed by a drip of 1.75 mg per kg per hour for up to 4 hours, is common.
This medicine is given by injection into a vein, followed by a continuous drip (infusion) into a vein. It is never given into a muscle. A heart specialist will give and monitor it.
The maximum rate of administration is 1.75 mg per kg of body weight per hour during some procedures, and the total treatment duration is decided by your doctor.
