How to Use

Dosage

Apply one drop to the affected eye(s) once daily, either in the morning or evening.

Method

Gently squeeze the bottle to release one drop into your eye. Close your eye and press the corner of your closed eye near your nose for 2 minutes to ensure the drop stays in.

Important

Do not use more than one drop per day in each affected eye.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Redness in the eye.
  • Changes in the appearance around the eye, such as thinning of fat, sunken eyes, drooping eyelids, tightening of skin, or the white of the eye becoming more visible.
  • Stinging, itching, or burning sensation in the eye.
  • Eye irritation or inflammation of the clear layer covering the eye (conjunctiva).
  • Sensitivity to light.
  • Eye pain.
  • Watery or dry eyes.
  • Feeling like something is in the eye.
  • Small breaks on the eye surface (with or without inflammation).
  • Blurred vision.
  • Red or itchy eyelids.
  • Hair growth around the eye.
  • Darkening of eyelids or skin around the eyes.
  • Longer eyelashes.
  • Swollen eyelids.
  • Reduced vision.
  • Runny nose.
  • Headache.
RARE
  • Unusual feeling in the eye.
  • Inflammation of the iris (colored part of the eye).
  • Swelling of the conjunctiva (clear layer of the eye).
  • Pain in the eyelids.
  • Tired eyes.
  • Ingrowing eyelashes.
  • Darkening of the iris.
  • Eyes sinking into their sockets.
  • Shrinking of the eyelid.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Swelling of the retina (macular edema) leading to poor vision.
  • Eye swelling.
  • Difficulty seeing clearly.
  • Eye discomfort.
  • Breathing problems or wheezing.
  • Allergic reactions (swelling, redness, rash).
  • Changes in taste.
  • Dizziness.
  • Slow heartbeat.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Trouble sleeping.
  • Nightmares.
  • Worsening of asthma.
  • Hair loss.
  • Skin discoloration around the eyes.
  • Tiredness.
  • Low blood sugar.
  • Depression, memory loss, or hallucinations.
  • Fainting.
  • Stroke.
  • Reduced blood flow to the brain.
  • Worsening of muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis).
  • Tingling sensation.
  • Decreased sensation in the eye.
  • Double vision.
  • Drooping eyelid.
  • Separation of eye layers after surgery to lower eye pressure.
  • Inflammation of the eye surface or within the eye.
  • Bleeding at the back of the eye (retinal hemorrhage).
  • Increased blinking.
  • Heart failure.
  • Irregular or stopped heartbeat.
  • Fast or slow heartbeat.
  • Fluid buildup in the body.
  • Chest pain.
  • Cold hands, feet, or limbs due to narrow blood vessels.
  • Cough.
  • Worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
  • Diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting.
  • Indigestion.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Red, flaky patches on the skin; rash.
  • Muscle pain.
  • Decreased sexual desire or sexual dysfunction.
  • Weakness.
  • Changes in liver blood test results.
  • Cloudy spots on the cornea due to calcium buildup (very rare, with severe corneal damage).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bimatoprost, timolol, beta-blockers, or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had breathing problems like asthma or severe lung disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems like a slow heart rate, heart block, or heart failure, or other heart conditions including chest pain, shortness of breath, low blood pressure, or irregular heartbeats.
  • Tell your doctor if you have poor blood circulation, such as Raynaud's disease.
  • Inform your doctor if you have an overactive thyroid or diabetes, as this medicine can hide symptoms of these conditions.

  • Be aware of severe allergic reactions; discuss any past reactions with your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Inform your doctor if you have any problems with the surface of your eye.
  • If you've had eye surgery to reduce eye pressure, tell your doctor if a layer inside your eyeball separated afterward.
  • If you have risk factors for macular edema (swelling at the back of the eye that affects vision), such as cataract surgery, inform your doctor.
  • Always tell your doctor or anesthesiologist before surgery that you are using Bitifrin, as it can affect other medicines used during anesthesia.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have a known contact allergy to silver.
  • Bitifrin may cause changes in the appearance around your eyes, such as thinning of fat, sunken eyes, drooping eyelids, tightening of skin, or the white of the eye becoming more visible. These changes may be permanent.
  • Your eyelashes may become darker and grow longer, and the skin around your eyes and the color of your iris (the colored part of your eye) may darken. These changes may be permanent.
  • Bitifrin should not be used by children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially blood pressure, heart, diabetes, quinidine (for heart rhythm issues or malaria), or depression medicines (fluoxetine, paroxetine), as they may interact with Bitifrin.
  • Do not use Bitifrin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor specifically advises it. Timolol can pass into breast milk.
  • This medicine may cause blurred vision. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision is clear.
  • Remove contact lenses before using Bitifrin and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
  • If you use other eye medicines, wait at least 5 minutes between applying Bitifrin and other drops. Apply eye ointments or gels last.
  • This medicine contains phosphates. In rare cases, if you have severe damage to the clear front part of your eye (cornea), phosphates can cause cloudy spots due to calcium buildup.
