How to Use

Dosage

For high blood pressure or angina, the usual dose is 5-10 mg once daily. For heart failure, the dose is gradually increased from 1.25 mg up to a maximum of 10 mg once daily.

Method

Take the tablets in the morning with water, with or after a meal. Do not chew or crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg for high blood pressure or angina, and 10 mg for heart failure or severe kidney/liver impairment.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling tired, dizzy, or having a headache (especially at the start of treatment).
  • Feeling cold or numb in your hands or feet, or leg cramps when walking.
  • Very low blood pressure (more common in people with heart failure).
  • Stomach issues like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
RARE
  • Sleep problems, feeling depressed, or having an irregular heartbeat.
  • Breathing difficulties (especially if you have asthma or past lung problems).
  • Muscle weakness, muscle cramps, fainting, or dizziness when standing up.
  • Nightmares, seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), or hearing problems.
  • Allergic skin reactions (like itching, redness, rash), dry eyes, or itchy/red eyes (conjunctivitis).
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis), reduced sexual ability (impotence), or changes in blood fat and liver enzyme levels.
  • Worsening of psoriasis, hair loss, or a runny nose with irritation.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bisoprolol or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart failure, very low blood pressure, or a very slow pulse (below 60 beats per minute).
  • Do not use if you have severe asthma or breathing difficulties (wheezing).
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as your condition may worsen.
  • This medicine may cause tiredness, drowsiness, or dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these effects.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
