How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 10 mg once a day, but some patients may take 5 mg. The highest recommended daily dose is 20 mg.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush them. Try to take them around the same time each day, preferably in the morning, before, during, or after breakfast. The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling cold or numb in hands, feet, ears, and nose; worsening of conditions with poor circulation like Raynaud's syndrome or leg pain when walking.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Tiredness, fatigue, dizziness, and headache (especially at the start of treatment, usually mild and disappear within 1-2 weeks).
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation.
RARE
  • Muscle weakness, muscle cramps, and joint pain.
  • Feeling unwell.
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat.
  • Worsening of heart failure (when the heart cannot pump enough blood).
  • Sleep problems, depression.
  • Breathing difficulties (especially for asthma patients or those with previous breathing problems).
  • Dizziness when standing up too quickly.
  • Nightmares, hallucinations.
  • Low blood sugar.
  • Increased liver enzyme levels (may cause yellowing of skin or eyes).
  • Increased triglyceride levels (a type of fat in the blood).
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis).
  • Inflammatory skin disease (drug-induced lupus) that goes away after treatment.
  • Decreased sexual performance.
  • Hearing loss, runny nose.
  • Reduced tear production (especially for contact lens users).
  • Fainting.
  • Worsening of psoriasis or psoriasis-like rash; hair loss.
  • Itchy or red eyes.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to bisoprolol or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart failure or have experienced a heart-related shock.
  • If you have heart disease, do not stop taking this medicine suddenly; the dose must be slowly reduced as advised by your doctor.
  • This medicine should not be taken during pregnancy or if you are breastfeeding.
  • Be careful when driving or operating machines, especially at the start of treatment, when changing doses, or when consuming alcohol, as you might experience vision problems, drowsiness, or dizziness.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
