How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose. For high blood pressure and chest pain, it's usually 10 mg once a day. For heart failure, you start with a low dose (like 1.25 mg once a day) and gradually increase it to 10 mg.

Method

Take the tablet with water in the morning, with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Important

Do not take more than 20 mg per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tiredness, weakness, dizziness, headache.
  • Feeling cold or numb in hands or feet.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Stomach problems like feeling sick, throwing up, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Slow heart rate.
  • Worsening heart failure.
RARE
  • Sleep problems.
  • Depression.
  • Dizziness when standing up.
  • Breathing problems (especially if you have asthma or chronic lung disease).
  • Muscle weakness, muscle cramps.
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat.
  • Hearing problems.
  • Allergic runny nose.
  • Dry eyes (reduced tear flow).
  • Liver inflammation, which can cause yellowing of the skin or eyes.
  • Abnormal results in certain blood tests (for liver function and fat levels).
  • Allergy-like skin reactions such as itching, redness, or rash.
  • Erectile dysfunction.
  • Nightmares, hallucinations.
  • Fainting.
  • Eye irritation and redness (conjunctivitis).
  • Hair loss.
  • Onset or worsening of flaky skin rash (psoriasis); psoriasis-like rash.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to bisoprolol fumarate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe asthma.
  • Do not take if you have severe blood circulation problems in your limbs (like Raynaud's syndrome), which can make your fingers and toes tingle, turn white, or blue.
  • Do not take if you have an untreated tumor of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma).
  • Do not take if you have metabolic acidosis (too much acid in your blood).

  • Do not take if you have certain severe heart problems, such as acute heart failure, worsening heart failure that needs IV medication, very low blood pressure, very slow or irregular heartbeat, or cardiogenic shock.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
