How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose. The typical dose is 10 mg once daily, but it can be adjusted between 5 mg and 20 mg depending on your condition.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water in the morning, with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tiredness, weakness, dizziness, headache
  • Cold or numb hands and feet
  • Low blood pressure
  • Stomach problems or digestive issues like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Slow heart rate
  • Worsening of heart failure
RARE
  • Sleep problems
  • Depression
  • Dizziness when standing up
  • Breathing difficulties in patients with asthma or chronic lung disease
  • Muscle weakness, muscle cramps
  • Hearing problems
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Reduced tear flow (dry eyes)
  • Liver inflammation, which can cause yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes
  • Abnormal results in certain blood tests (liver function and fat levels)
  • Allergic reactions like itching, redness, rash
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Nightmares, hallucinations
  • Fainting
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat
  • Eye irritation and redness (conjunctivitis)
  • Hair loss
  • Onset or worsening of flaky skin rash (psoriasis); psoriasis-like rash

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to bisoprolol fumarate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe asthma.
  • Do not take if you have severe circulation problems in your limbs (like Raynaud's syndrome), which can cause tingling or make your fingers and toes turn white or blue.
  • Do not take if you have an untreated pheochromocytoma (a rare tumor of the adrenal gland).
  • Do not take if you have metabolic acidosis (too much acid in your blood).

  • Do not take if you have acute heart failure or worsening heart failure that needs intravenous treatment to boost heart strength.
  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure.
  • Do not take if you have certain heart conditions that cause a very slow or irregular heartbeat.
  • Do not take if you have cardiogenic shock (a severe heart condition that causes very low blood pressure and circulatory collapse).

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
