How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe your dose. Usually, you take 1 tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably with breakfast. You can break the tablet in half to make it easier to swallow, but do not crush or chew it.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor prescribes, usually one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tiredness, dizziness, and headache
  • Coldness and numbness in hands and feet
  • Feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting), diarrhea, or constipation
  • Slight changes in blood test results (e.g., cholesterol, sugar, uric acid, potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium)
RARE
  • Sleep problems, depression
  • Slow heart rate, worsening heart failure symptoms (e.g., swelling, shortness of breath)
  • Dizziness or fainting when standing up (due to low blood pressure)
  • Worsening asthma or lung disease symptoms, airway spasms
  • Loss of appetite, stomach upset, pancreas inflammation (severe upper stomach pain)
  • Muscle weakness and cramps
  • Nightmares, hallucinations
  • Dry eyes, vision problems, hearing problems
  • Allergic reactions (itching, rash, redness)
  • Impotence

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bisoprolol, hydrochlorothiazide, similar medicines, or any ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have uncontrolled heart failure, very low blood pressure due to heart problems, a severe heart rhythm disorder, or a resting heart rate below 60 beats per minute.
  • Do not use if you have severe asthma, another serious lung disease, severe kidney failure, or severe liver problems.
  • Do not use if you have serious problems with your body's salt levels (like too much calcium or too little potassium/sodium).
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as your condition might get worse.

  • If you experience sudden vision loss, eye pain, or severe shortness of breath after taking this medicine, seek immediate medical help.
  • This medicine can increase the risk of skin and lip cancer with long-term use. Protect your skin from the sun.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
