How to Use

Dosage

Start with a low dose, gradually increasing as directed by your doctor. The usual maintenance dose is 10 mg once daily.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water in the morning, with or without food. Do not chew or crush it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10 mg of bisoprolol.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Slow heart rate
  • Fatigue, feeling weak, dizziness, headache
  • Feeling cold or numb in hands or feet
  • Too low blood pressure
  • Digestive problems, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
RARE
  • Sleep problems, depression, nightmares, hallucinations
  • Worsening heart failure
  • Breathing problems (especially in patients with asthma or lung disease)
  • Muscle weakness, muscle cramps
  • Hearing problems
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Dry eyes, reduced tear flow
  • Liver inflammation, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Allergy-like reactions, such as itching, redness, rash
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Fainting
  • Eye irritation and redness (conjunctivitis)
  • Hair loss
  • Worsening of psoriasis or psoriasis-like rash

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bisoprolol or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe asthma or other severe long-term lung disease.
  • Do not use if you have severe circulation problems in your hands or feet.
  • Do not use if your heart failure is getting worse and requires hospital care.
  • Do not use if you have a very slow or irregular heart rate, or very low blood pressure.

  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, as this medicine can hide symptoms of low blood sugar.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you are going to have surgery or anesthesia.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
