How to Use

Dosage

Treatment starts with a low dose (usually 1.25 mg once daily) and is gradually increased as directed by your doctor. The typical maintenance dose is 10 mg once daily.

Method

Take the tablet in the morning with water, with or without food. Do not chew or crush it.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fatigue, weakness, dizziness, headache
  • Cold or numb hands and feet
  • Low blood pressure
  • Stomach problems like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
RARE
  • Sleep problems, feeling down (depression)
  • Breathing difficulties (especially if you have asthma or chronic lung disease)
  • Muscle weakness or cramps
  • Hearing problems, allergic rhinitis (runny, stuffy nose)
  • Dry eyes (can be an issue if you wear contact lenses)
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (may indicate liver inflammation)
  • Skin reactions like itching, redness, or rash
  • Erection problems
  • Nightmares, seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), fainting
  • Eye irritation and redness (conjunctivitis), hair loss
  • Worsening or new psoriasis-like skin rash

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Bisoproact if you are allergic to bisoprolol or any of its ingredients.
  • Avoid use if you have severe asthma, chronic lung disease, severe circulation problems, or untreated adrenal gland tumors.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart conditions like worsening heart failure, a very slow or irregular heartbeat, or very low blood pressure.
  • Never stop taking Bisoproact suddenly without your doctor's advice, as your condition could get much worse.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider interactions , especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
